I believe in Traveling

                                                      I believe in Traveling

A few years ago I didn’t really think much of Vancouver. Yes, I thought it was beautiful but it barely made my eyes open wide and say “wow”. Two years ago I was clueless about the world. I never knew what it was really like to be in another country except Canada. Only TV told me what it was like. I never actually felt the difference of being in another country. I traveled around BC and parts of Alberta, but I never went outside of Canada except for going to Seattle in the United States. The Farthest I went away from Vancouver was in Toronto and Montreal. My dad who is Croatian thought it would be a good idea to visit some family members in Croatia. That june my family visited Croatia and I was really excited.

Croatia was beautiful. It really opened my eyes up. It was a really cool cultural experience. I experienced a new way of living. I lived my life in another continent for 2 months and it was the best 2 months of my life.

When you travel you meet lots of new people. I met many new friends, aunts, uncles and many others. I learned about my heritage and background. I also picked up some Croatian words and sentence. I am learning Croatian which will open doors for me in the future.

I then migrated my way up by car to Italy, Slovenia, France, Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. It was awesome. I have so many stories that I tell my friends about my trip to Europe. Last Summer I went to Ireland and stayed with family from my mom’s side of the family. Ireland is beautiful. I nor Television would be able to describe the beauty of Ireland.

The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” - St Augstine

One of my favorite quotes. It is really true. I believe that people who do not travel, don’t live their life to the very best it can possibly be. Traveling really is like a good book because once you start you can’t put it down. I would suggest traveling to anyone who wants to read an interesting chapter.

“I believe… Crooks”

February 25th, 2009

I believe that “happiness is real when shared”- into the wild.  :)

Ever since I was a young boy, white people treated me like I wasn’t even there because I was black. When I talked, nobody listened. When I cried, nobody heard. When I asked to join the soccer game after school, everyone ignored me. When I needed a friend, nobody talked to me. I spent my childhood alone until I was 10 years old, when I met my best friend Jimmy Watt.  Other than my family, Jimmy Watt was the only that noticed me and the only one who talked to me. Jimmy was a black American, born in New Orleans. Even though Jimmy was 2 years older than me, we still had lots of fun together. He listened when I talked. We played together all the time.  When he was sick, I was sad. 5 years later Jimmy moved because his parents were in search of new lives. They were sick of bailing hay and living the farmer life.  They wanted to go back to New Orleans. Dam his parents.  They were so mean to him. They didn’t care about his life. They only cared about themselves. By the time I was 16; I dropped out of school and went to work on some ranches. I was pretty good, but I wasn’t happy. Even if I was happy, it wasn’t like when I was with Jimmy. I finally met a friend called Mike “the milker” Droup, who was extremely good at milking cows. He was white and he was very funny. He didn’t care that I was black. He treated me like I was white. He always made me grin no matter what he did. Mike would spend hours talking to me about his wife and his baby daughter. I would listen to everything that he said. It is just like the friendship Jimmy and I had from when I was 10. One Day, Mike was climbing a ladder when he was fixing the barn roof. One of the farms dogs knocked over the ladder and poor Mike broke his right arm. I remember when he fell. A tear came to my eye. Mike went to the hospital and I never saw him after that. I have worked at many ranches since the time of Mike and all of the white people treated me like dirt because I am black.  I have had to sleep in separate rooms on less comfy beds. I get paid less. I don’t get to go to cat-houses. I CANT DO NOTHIN! I am always alone and I have no fun. I am not happy. All I can do is play horseshoes until it gets dark and read boring books, but that aint fun.  The other day some white guy named Lennie walked into my room. White people don’t come in a black man’s room and I told him that, but he didn’t listen. He was a bit mentally ill or something because he didn’t listen. We started talkin and he wasn’t that bad. He respected me and I was happy. He was talking about livin life on his own ranch but that’s not gonna happen. I finally had someone to talk to me nicely, in a long time. You don’t realize what life is like when you are by yourself and you can’t talk to anyone. A guy needs somebody to hear him. Lennie always works with a guy named George. George says he would be better off without Lennie because he is hard to take care of, but George said he couldn’t work alone. Even though Lennie sometimes drives him crazy, he is his friend and George likes him.

The only times that I have been happy were the times that I was with someone.

“The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry”

January 15th, 2009

I believe the sentence “The best laid plans of mice and men often go awry” means that The best parts of the mice and men often turn out to be unexpected. This sentence tells me that unexpected things are going to happen in the book. My predictions is that the book will take many twists and turns along the way. I believe it will be a very exciting book. I think it will be a great book that I will enjoy very much with my peers from my English class. The cover does not look too amazing neither does the caption on the back but I believe it will be awesome.

#1 Blog reflection: Assess your own leadership skills. What kind of leader would you be more like, Jack or Ralph? Who would you want to be your leader, Jack or Ralph?ANS: I would want to be my own leader but I dont think that would go to well because of Jack . I would want to be with Ralph and we could be co leaders because I agree with many of Ralph’s points, but I think with my academic ability that I could improve the island and make it a better place. I believe Jack is a complete loser. He is the reason for Simon’s death.#2 Blog reflection: What is your greatest fear?ANS: Death

#3 Blog reflection: Why would a child murder?

ANS: There are some kids in the world who are not normal and they want to kill people. These kids may have to look into a therapist. Usally kids kill kids because of anger.

#4 Blog reflection: Define evil. Do you believe in the “devil”?ANS: Evil is a term that is used to describe someone who is HARMFUL to others, Who treats everybody like dirt, who wants to distroy the earth, and who is negitive. After reading the book the lord of the flies, I believe there is no devil. I believe the devil lives within us.    #5 Blog reflection: How would this story have developed if girls were on the island?ANS: If there were girls on the island then I think it would be one HUGE love scence. I think the boys would try and get the girls attention. Also I think Jack’s tribe wouldn’t be all HUNT HUNT HUNT. They would be more into the girls and the girls would provide knowledge to the decisions that jack and Ralph make.

“Create some Different Beginnings”

October 29th, 2008

1.) Something very odd: The man is the dark purple coat gave me the phone he said “its for you”.

2.) Use direct speech:” She is hurt.”my mom yelled  “what” I said the phone then cut out.

3.) The the middle of something:Swish as I kicked the soccer ball into the net mky coach yelled your mom is on the phone.

4.) Make the reader laugh While my friend Carlos was running he tripped hitting his head on the bench. I laughed so hard I peed my pants.

5.) Talk to the Reader:Sisters, people say they are annoying, but my sister no way. My sister was my best friend.

6.) Shock your reader:  ”Barcelona’s rookie Eduardo Fabregas GONE” I read the title over and over again in my head while in the Mexican airport. Ahhhhhhhhhh I screamed and threw the paper at the old man reading the same newspaper beside me. The man jumped up from his seat and pushed me down on to the ground. I sat there pondering about my sister.***best i could do for this** **may be off the topic of shock your reader**

7.) Create a tense atmosphere“Eduardo! It’s Maria she, she is hurt.” “What” I screamed. My mom was trying to keep me from going nuts. She told me my younger sister Maria was in a car accident and that i should come back to Mexico because she is in critical condition. I hung up before I could say by to my mom. As I walked out of my coaches office tears were running down my face. This is the first time i have cried since I was 11.

8.) Create a clear picture:Alone sitting in the dark kichen, Eduardo filled with sadness cries softly and sliently.  He falls back onto the wooden stool and weeps like he has never before. Eduardo thought i was wrong when men cried but today it was an exception.Eduardo drags himself into the dark living room shouting and screaming with terror. Eduardo collapses on the hard wooden floor hitting his head against a desk. He still cries.  He cried so much that day he could have filled a large jug full of his tears. He Cried for 3 hours that day.

Fact or Fiction #3

Does your character get what he or she wants?

When my character returns to Spain he then gets fired. His sister dies and when he goes back to Spain in four months he gets fired from being a professional soccer player because Barcelona has found a new player that will replace him.

How does that happen? What your character wants creates the problem or conflict in the story. What sequence of events leads to the resolution of that conflict?

The player that Barcelona choose to be on his team turns out to be a complete FAIL. No other team wants him any more so he heads back to Mexico. When he arrives in Mexico he is lost, looking for another dream. He finds a little produce store to work at. While walking on the street he comes across some kids playing soccer with a tin can. He works at the produce store for 1 year thinking about his lost sister and his soccer career. His hair hasn’t been cut and he looks miserable. While walking the the store a kid kicks the can to him and says in spanish ” hey, Wanna play some soccer”. Eduardo’s eyes light up and he runs to his house and picks up one of his best soccer balls. He then gives it to the kid. He shows him how to play and  then becomes a coach for a school

Usain Bolt Can he really run faster?

October 1st, 2008

Yes, he can. Physicits at the Institute of Theoretical Astrophysics in the University of Oslo, Norway have proved that he could run faster if he didn’t showboat at the end. Usain ran 100 meters in a world record time of 9.69 seconds. If he didn’t showboat he could have ran it in 9.55 seconds. I think it is really stupid to showboat in a track race. He could have saved the chest pounding for after he finished the race. What if he was pounding his chest and the guy in second place passed him. That would have made Usain Bolt feel really stupid.                                              Usain Bolt

Showboating can be a good thing and a bad thing. For instance making a huge hit in hockey, making an around the back pass to your team mate in basketball while you have no defender on you, or even just  taking your shirt off when you scored a goal in soccer when you are already up 7-0. Usally when you try and show off it will lead to you screwing up and everybody making fun of you like I am going to with Zach Randolph. To view a movie of how stupid Showboating can be, click the link below…

I can also proably bet you almost everyone reading this article can say they have show boated before. Do you think showboating is stupid? Please give me your response!
